International Economic Integration: Journey to New Generation FTAs – A “Hot” Issue at CIECI 2022 and Policy Implications for Vietnam
Faced with difficulties in reaching multilateral agreements and unpredictable fluctuations in the global economy, Free Trade Agreements (FTAs) - especially new-generation FTAs - have become an "ideal" tool to help countries, including Vietnam, integrate more deeply into the world economy. In order to analyze opportunities and challenges, as well as provide effective policy implications and recommendations for Vietnam in this process, on November 25, 2022, the CIECI 2022 with the theme "International Economic Integration: Journey to New Generation FTAs" was held at the University of Economics - VNU (UEB-VNU).
CIECI 2022 is organized by the University of Economics - VNU in collaboration with the Friedrich Naumann Foundation for Freedom in Vietnam (FNF Vietnam); University of Adelaide, Australia; Rangsit University, Thailand; University of Economics and Law, VNU-HCM; Foreign Trade University; Sofia University, Bulgaria and National Chengchi University, Taiwan.
Initiated in 2013 at UEB, CIECI has officially marked a milestone for its 10-year journey, becoming a prestigious and highly specialized forum, gathering many experts, major scientists, domestic and international enterprises to enhance academic and practical exchanges around international economic integration issues, providing effective development policy implications for Vietnam.
The main content of the Conference includes two roundtable sessions, focusing on: (1) The formation and prospects of new generation FTAs; (2) Vietnam's implementation of new generation FTAs; and parallel discussion sessions with four main topic groups: (1) The impact of FTAs on International Trade; (2) FTAs and Sustainable Growth; (3) FTAs and Development by Sector and (4) Economic Integration Issues.
The 10th CIECI International Conference has successfully concluded, a memorable milestone contributing to affirming the position, role and importance in providing valuable research for Vietnam's International Economic Integration activities.
